Debunking European Car Myths

So you own a European car and YOU know all the myths surrounding them are just that – myths! What about everyone else?
Unfortunately, many of these untruths have been believed for so long it’s going to take us quite a lot of work to change people’s minds…..so let’s get started!

Repairs are more expensive.

The fact of the matter is, whilst European cars require European parts this does not mean excessive repair bills on a regular basis. These vehicles are well-designed automobiles that don’t need all the special care that most people believe they do. Yes, European car parts can be expensive – mostly due to importing costs – but you can be assured they are quality and befitting your vehicle. You will also save a great deal buying used European parts for your vehicle from companies such as ASV European Car Parts. With high quality comes price but more often than not you will find that less issues will arise with European vehicles over time.

I can only have my car serviced by the dealership.

Not true! Although you do need to make sure you do your due diligence and find a shop who knows what they are doing. While many repair facilities claim they provide expert European auto repair, service for these vehicles should not be performed by just any mechanic. Your vehicle deserves great service so it’s important to check out the credentials and reviews of independent European auto repair shops to ensure they know what they are doing when you bring them your vehicle. In most cases a dealership alternative will end up saving you hundreds of dollars as well, as they can source parts for less and offer lower hourly rates for labour services.

European vehicles require premium fuel.

All cars are different. Just because a vehicle originated from a certain area in the world does not automatically mean it needs premium fuel. Ask the question of whoever you buy your car from. The fuel you use can affect the performance of your car so it’s best to get it right the first time.

European cars go longer between oil changes.

Not necessarily. Every vehicle on the road needs regular oil changes! It doesn’t matter what make, model or year. Refer to your manual for advice on how long your exact car is recommended to go between oil changes.
